This is issue #5 for the series, and their third Kickstarter campaign. Writer/Creator, Juan Espinosa, is a Systems Administrator in real life and created the series to help educate readers about S.T.E.M. and using technology safely. We’ve all had that moment of trying to teach your older family member about modern technology. Read More Kickstarter of the Week: Little Deaths March 19, 2021 Posted in No comments I’m going to start this piece with a fun fact. Not every Canadian knows French. I’m from a part of the country not exactly known for being particularly “worldly” but I can recognize enough French to have traveled in French speaking areas like Quebec, France, Belgium, and Luxemburg, and not have too many issues. I use the word “recognize” not “read” very intentionally. I can often understand out what words I’m seeing, without truly reading them. I know enough that “Little Deaths” makes me smile. If you know why that’s a sort of double entendre, this book is likely for you. Little Deaths is planned to be a series of short stories chronicling the life and travels of La Maupin, Julie d’Aubigny. Read More Skies Over Superior October 28, 2020 Posted in No comments Frost giants are crossing Lake Superior to destroy all mankind. Only Merilee Fite and her estranged uncle can stop them. Writer: Josh Dahl Artist: Laura Bearl Normally I would do a good, bad, summary but this book is a bit different. Honestly, it’s good. I enjoyed the story so far. It doesn’t say issue 1 on it, but it’s written as an issue 1. From what I can tell, it was on Kickstarter back in July. This was a gift to me from a friend so I’m not sure if it came from that or not because I also saw mention of crowdfunding back in 2018. The story is really enjoyable. Something bad is coming and only Merilee seems to have any knowledge that the bad isn’t over after the initial occurrence. Lucifer has taken his domain from him, and after centuries of wasting away in a crummy bar he’s had enough! Now, with his impish cohort Linc and bar manager/former general Mammon, he seeks to take his powers back from the Four Horsemen and usurp Lucifer to once more be the ruler of all Hell! Co-created by Shaun Barbour and Chuck Pineau this is more than just a comedic take on Hell. This is a chance for both creators to bring their sense of fun to comics, to temporarily ignore the shitstorm that is our world right now, and just laugh and enjoy.
